Home & local notes
Open the app and you're in your city.
Posting
Titles up to 60 characters and posts up to 2,000, with up to 9 photos or one video, a cover, #topics and a city. AI can draft or polish your text, text-only notes get a text cover automatically, and unfinished drafts come back when you return.
Replies and reactions
Like, comment and reply, repost or quote, save, follow and share a link. On a question, you can pick the best answer. Report or block anything that crosses the line.
Discover
Latest shows what's happening now, Hot and Topics show what people are talking about, and People helps you find others nearby. Local services has four doors: Marketplace, Homes & stays, Jobs and Life & Travel.
OpenJobs
Part-time, mid-career and new-grad, with the conditions up front.
Three tracks
Search part-time, mid-career and new-grad separately, and filter by 17 industries and by job type. New-grad is a company directory plus a job-hunting and residence-status timeline, with no listings.
OpenConditions, labeled
One-tap “Foreigners welcome” and “Students welcome” filters. Filter by Japanese level, with “Japanese requirement not stated” where a listing is silent. Pay is sorted in hourly and monthly bands, and anything that doesn't add up is marked “Salary pending review”.
Hours and visas
Each job is tagged “Can fit within 28 hours/week”, “Over 28 hours/week” or “Hours need confirmation”. Filter by visa support, work-visa-eligible roles and Specified Skilled Worker fields; a field is an industry category, not a promise from the employer.
Distance and alerts
Turn on location to search and sort by distance, or browse on a map. Save a search and get new jobs at 7 pm Japan time every day.
Official listings and community posts
Official listings send you to the employer's own site to apply, and Machi never collects your résumé. Community posts can be answered by message in the app. Each job shows an at-a-glance summary first, then the original Japanese.
Company pages and Ask the community
Company pages bring together open roles, visa support and moderated anonymous interview and workplace reviews, with chain brands grouped by store. Not sure about something? Tap “Ask the community” to post your question (sign-in required).

Five collections
Tokyo must-sees, the Roppongi Art Belt, theme parks, fireworks and festivals, and places all over Japan.
OpenPick a time
Now, this weekend or this month, then narrow it down by festivals, fireworks, exhibitions, anime and games and more. A category only appears when it has events with confirmed dates.

Photos, a map, links to official tickets or details, and the date we last checked.
Save and share
Save the places you want to go (sign-in required) or share them with friends. At the bottom of the page you can browse local businesses and services.

Homes, Marketplace, meetups and events are all in Discover and follow the city you pick.
Homes & stays
Rentals, homes to buy and homestays on separate tabs. Search on a map, request a viewing and send a rental application; saved listings alert you when the price drops.
OpenMarketplace
Browse by category, give things away or post what you're looking for. See something you like? Message the seller.
OpenMeet & hang out
Food, drinks, sports, study, language exchange, carpools and group orders. Set a headcount and a time, then chat as a group. Machi is not a dating app.
OpenEvents
Host an exhibition, a get-together or a talk with a capacity, a waitlist and optional approval, and link to outside ticketing. Machi never collects money.
OpenBusinesses & services
Restaurants, travel tickets, pickups, translation and paperwork help, moving, utilities setup and beauty. Read reviews and business replies and book a time slot; businesses can apply for verification.

Universities, graduate schools, vocational and language schools in Japan, plus company data for job seekers from abroad.
OpenMachi AI
Ask in English, Chinese or Japanese. Answers draw on Machi's guides and its school and company libraries and are marked “From Machi Guide”. When visas, law, health or money are involved, it points you back to the official source.
OpenJLPT
N5–N1 level guides, eight study-route articles, and exam dates with a countdown for test sites in Japan. Online practice, mock exams and placement tests are not yet open, and neither is the EJU.
OpenMy workbench
Under Me: to-dos, a calendar, application tracking, a household budget, bills, contracts, and expiry reminders for your residence card, passport, My Number card and driver's license.

Downloading and everyday use are free. Free accounts get a set number of Machi AI questions each day.
Machi Verified
Monthly or yearly, and it works on both iOS and the web. You get a verified badge, more Machi AI questions and the Pro model, posting for jobs, homes and services (three per category each month), a ranking boost, post insights and priority review. Posting in those three categories requires membership.
OpenMachi Coins
Your in-app wallet. Buy coin packs and spend them in the Guide shop and elsewhere; members get coins every month, and inviting friends earns more. One coin counts as one yen.
Languages, cities & sign-in
English, 中文, 日本語. Switch anytime.
Interface language
English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, switchable anytime. There's no Traditional Chinese interface.
Post languages and translation
Filter posts by language; Korean, French, Spanish and other posts carry language tags too. On iOS 18 and later, tap Translate on Chinese, Japanese or English posts in the post view or the timeline. Apple's on-device translation does the work, and the result is labeled as AI translation. Not on the web yet.
Cities
Choose any of Japan's 47 prefectures and the cities, towns and wards within them. The Guide and the school and company libraries cover Japan only; other countries are in preparation.

Use email or Google, plus Sign in with Apple on iOS. You can also look around without an account.
