Product and positioning

What is Machi?

Machi is a city-life product starting in Japan, connecting local posts, housing, resale, work, events, Machi Guide, Machi AI, and JLPT online learning.

Is Machi a city community app?

Yes. Machi is a city-based local life and community platform for local information, city guides, Q&A, community discussions, language exchange groups, events, housing, jobs, services, and business listings. Social features are designed around public city topics and community participation, not private-introduction services.

Is Machi a dating app?

No. Machi does not provide dating matches, matchmaking, paid companionship, or one-on-one date brokering. Social features exist for public city topics, local groups, language exchange, and events.

Is Machi only for Japan?

No. Machi starts with Japan Guide and selected city communities, then expands to more countries and cities.

Is Machi a study abroad agency?

No. Guide organizes Japan study, career, and life resources, but Machi as a whole is a city-life product. Any bookable service identifies its provider, scope, and price separately.

Platforms, JLPT, and translation

Which platforms are supported?

iOS is on the App Store, the web app is available in a browser, and Android is in development. Features differ by platform.

What do JLPT online exams include?

Placement, N5–N1 learning, timed mock exams, reference results, and mistake review. Mock material is not unauthorized official past-paper content, and results are not official scores or a pass guarantee.

Are AI explanations always correct?

No. Supported mistakes can request a Machi AI explanation, but AI can be wrong. Check reliable materials and official exam information. Allowances, membership benefits, and prices appear inside the product.

When can Machi translate a post?

On iOS 18 or later, supported Chinese, Japanese, and English posts may show an AI translation when the system and language packs allow it. Translation is for understanding and is not currently a web feature.

When will international cities open?

Canada, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, France, and Germany are under research or in preparation. They are not yet open, and no fixed launch dates are promised.

Use and safety

Can I post housing, jobs or secondhand items?

Yes, but content must be truthful, clear, compliant with local law and subject to review, risk prompts and reporting.

Are paid services guaranteed?

No. Study, career, visa, housing, banking, admission and employment outcomes depend on user materials, third parties and local rules.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Users can manage profile information and request deletion; public content may already have been seen or interacted with.
